White Rhinoceros Calf
Ceratotherium simum (calf)
White rhinoceros calves stay close to their mothers in open grassland and savanna, often resting in shade or cover while adults graze nearby. They feed on milk at first and gradually begin nibbling short grasses. A calf’s horn is only a small nub, so its main defenses are staying near its mother, running, kicking, and pushing with its body. Young calves can be surprisingly playful, mock-charging and sparring as they build strength.
