Japanese Quail Chick
Coturnix japonica (chick)

Newly hatched Japanese quail chicks live close to the ground in grassy fields, crop edges, and dense cover where they can hide from predators. They are precocial, able to walk, peck, and feed soon after leaving the egg. Their diet is mostly tiny seeds, tender greens, and small insects. The striped down on the chick breaks up its outline among dry grass and leaf litter.
