Black-footed Ferret Kit
Mustela nigripes (kit)

This kit stays deep in a prairie dog burrow on open grassland, relying on its mother and the shelter of the tunnel system. It feeds first on milk and then on small pieces of meat brought to the den. Its movements are clumsy but quick, with early play-biting and pawing that build hunting skills. A notable feature is that the dark face mask and black feet become more distinct as it grows.
