Eurasian Magpie
Pica pica
The adult Eurasian Magpie is a bold corvid of open countryside, woodland edges, towns, parks, and gardens across much of Eurasia. It is an agile omnivore, feeding on insects, carrion, eggs, fruit, seeds, small vertebrates, and human leftovers. Adults fly with quick wingbeats and a long balancing tail, and they may dive-bomb or scold intruders near the nest. This species is notably intelligent and often hides food for later use.
