Gentoo Penguin
Pygoscelis papua

An adult Gentoo Penguin breeds in open colonies on ice-free coasts and islands, often building a nest from carefully gathered pebbles. It hunts at sea by rapid pursuit diving, feeding mainly on krill, fish, and squid. Adults are strongly adapted for swimming, using stiff flipper-like wings and a streamlined body to maneuver underwater. This species is often cited as the fastest swimming penguin, capable of short bursts that outpace many other penguins.
