Spotted Nerite
Vittina natalensis

An adult spotted nerite is a small aquatic snail found on rocks, wood, and other hard surfaces in freshwater and brackish habitats. It spends much of its time grazing algae, diatoms, and biofilm with a rasping radula. When threatened, it clamps down tightly and seals itself behind its hard shell and operculum. Its attractive spotted shell and strong algae-eating habit make it a common aquarium snail, though its larvae need saltier conditions to develop.
