Hooded Crow
Corvus cornix

The adult hooded crow is a highly adaptable corvid found across northern, eastern, and southeastern Europe and parts of the Middle East, using farmland, coasts, river valleys, cities, parks, and open woodland. It is an omnivore and scavenger, eating insects, eggs, small vertebrates, carrion, grain, fruit, shellfish, and discarded human food. Adults fly strongly, walk confidently on the ground, cache food, mob predators, and use sharp pecks and aerial dives to defend themselves or their nests. Hooded crows are famously intelligent, with flexible problem solving and the ability to exploit new feeding opportunities in human-shaped landscapes.
