Two-tailed Pasha Chrysalis
Charaxes jasius (pupa)
The chrysalis is attached to a twig or leaf on a strawberry tree in warm Mediterranean scrub and evergreen woodland. It does not feed or move about, instead transforming safely within its pupal case. Its angular green-and-brown form resembles a small dried leaf or plant bud, providing effective camouflage.
