Superb Fairywren Nestling
Malurus cyaneus (nestling)
Superb Fairywren nestlings remain in a concealed domed nest low in dense scrub, woodland-edge vegetation, or garden cover in southeastern Australia. They are fed insects, spiders, and other tiny invertebrates brought by their parents. Blind and sparsely feathered when newly hatched, they rely on persistent begging calls and parental warmth rather than leaving the nest.
