Argentine Ant Drone
Linepithema humile (drone)

Argentine ant drones are small winged males produced in protected colony nests, commonly in soil, leaf litter, and sheltered urban crevices. They are short-lived reproductive ants whose main activity is seeking and mating with virgin queens rather than foraging or defending the nest. Workers provide them with food, ultimately derived from sugary honeydew and insect protein collected by the colony. Unlike worker ants, drones have wings and are built chiefly for reproduction, dying soon after their brief adult role is complete.
