Migratory Locust Gregarious Adult
Locusta migratoria (gregarious)

Gregarious adult migratory locusts occur in dense bands and swarms across grasslands, croplands, and semi-arid open country. They feed voraciously on grasses, cereal crops, and other green vegetation, using strong chewing mouthparts. Their fully developed wings support long-distance collective flights, allowing swarms to track seasonal vegetation and rapidly reach new feeding areas. A notable feature of this phase is its coordinated swarm behaviour, which can turn normally dispersed insects into major agricultural pests.
