Eurasian Spoonbill
Platalea leucorodia

Eurasian Spoonbills inhabit shallow freshwater and coastal wetlands, including marshes, lagoons, estuaries, and mudflats. They forage by wading with the broad, spoon-shaped bill swept from side to side, detecting small fish, aquatic insects, crustaceans, and other invertebrates by touch. Adults often roost and nest colonially in trees, reedbeds, or dense wetland vegetation. Their distinctive bill is highly sensitive, allowing them to catch prey in muddy water with little reliance on sight.
