Swamp Wallaby
Wallabia bicolor

The swamp wallaby inhabits dense scrub, heathland, wet forest margins, and swampy gullies along eastern Australia. Mostly solitary and active around dusk and at night, it moves quietly through thick cover before making rapid bounding escapes when disturbed. It feeds on grasses, ferns, shrubs, and other browse, and can use strong hind-leg kicks to defend itself. Unlike many kangaroos and wallabies, females can maintain nearly continuous reproduction through delayed implantation.
