Trumpeter Swan Cygnet
Cygnus buccinator (cygnet)

Trumpeter Swan cygnets hatch in shallow marshes and along the sheltered edges of large northern lakes and rivers. They remain close to their parents, swimming in family groups and feeding on tender aquatic vegetation, algae, and small invertebrates. Their soft gray down provides camouflage among reeds, and the young can enter the water and swim soon after hatching.
