Cane Toad
Rhinella jimi

Adult Cane Toads occupy open woodland, scrub, farmland, and settled areas across northeastern Brazil. Mostly active at night, they wait for beetles, ants, termites, and other invertebrates before lunging with a sticky tongue. Large parotoid glands behind the eyes produce potent defensive secretions that deter many would-be predators.
