Polyphemus Moth Larva
Antheraea polyphemus (larva)
This large green caterpillar lives on deciduous trees in forests, woodlands, and suburban gardens across eastern North America. It feeds voraciously on leaves of trees such as oak, maple, birch, and willow. Its body coloration helps it blend among foliage, while its size makes it a substantial meal for predators.
