Polyphemus Moth
Antheraea polyphemus
Adult Polyphemus moths inhabit forests, orchards, and wooded neighborhoods, flying mainly at night. Adults do not eat; they survive on energy stored during their caterpillar stage and focus on finding mates. Large eyespots on the hindwings can startle predators when the moth spreads its wings.
