Australian Water Dragon Hatchling
Intellagama lesueurii (hatchling)
Australian water dragon hatchlings shelter along vegetated creek banks, ponds, and moist forest edges in eastern Australia. They dart through leaf litter and low vegetation, quickly taking to shallow water or hiding among rocks when threatened. Their diet consists chiefly of tiny insects, spiders, and other small invertebrates. Even at this stage, they are capable climbers and swimmers.
