Imported Currantworm Pupa
Nematus ribesii (pupa)

After finishing its feeding stage, the imported currantworm larva drops from currant or gooseberry foliage and pupates in the soil or leaf litter beneath the host plant. It remains enclosed in a firm, brown silken cocoon and does not feed or move about. This sheltered stage transforms the leaf-eating larva into the winged adult sawfly.
