American Dipper Fledgling
Cinclus mexicanus (fledgling)

American Dipper fledglings leave the nest near clear, swift streams and make short, unsteady flights among streamside rocks. They follow adults while learning to pick aquatic insects, larvae, and small crustaceans from the water's edge. Young birds are often browner and less crisply marked than adults, and gradually practice the characteristic dipping movements.
