Cabbage Moth Caterpillar
Mamestra brassicae (caterpillar)
This caterpillar lives on cabbages, other brassicas, and a range of garden and field plants. It feeds mainly at night, chewing ragged holes in leaves and hiding among foliage or in soil during the day. When disturbed, it may curl its body defensively. Large outbreaks can make it a significant crop pest.
