Mediterranean Spotted Chafer Larva
Oxythyrea funesta (larva)

The larva lives underground in soil, compost, and decaying plant matter, especially around roots and humus-rich places. It feeds mostly on decomposing organic material and may also nibble fine roots while growing through its grub stages. When disturbed, it curls into a C-shape and relies on the protection of the surrounding soil. Like other scarab grubs, it spends nearly all of this stage hidden from view.
