Mediterranean Spotted Chafer
Oxythyrea funesta

The adult is a small black flower chafer marked with irregular white spots, commonly found on blossoms in warm parts of southern and central Europe. It feeds on pollen, nectar, and soft flower tissues, sometimes damaging orchard or garden flowers. Adults fly readily between blooms during sunny weather and may drop or tuck in when disturbed. A notable feature is that the wing covers remain largely closed while the flight wings unfold from beneath, a trait shared by many flower chafers.
