Marbled Rock Crab Zoea
Pachygrapsus marmoratus (zoea)
This tiny larva drifts as plankton in coastal waters after hatching. It swims with rapid abdominal flicks and feeds on microscopic plankton and organic particles. Its long spines help make it difficult for small predators to swallow.
