Rainbow Trout
Oncorhynchus mykiss

Adult rainbow trout live in cold rivers, streams, lakes, and reservoirs with well-oxygenated water. They are swift predators that take aquatic insects, small fish, crustaceans, and drifting terrestrial insects from feeding positions in current. Adults use bursts of speed, sharp turns, and cover near rocks or banks to evade threats. A notable fact is that sea-run rainbow trout are called steelhead, though they are the same species.
