Regal Moth
Citheronia regalis

Adult regal moths inhabit hardwood forests and wooded suburban areas across much of the eastern United States. They fly chiefly at night, with males using their feathery antennae to locate females by scent. Adults have reduced mouthparts and generally do not feed, living only on reserves accumulated as caterpillars. Their large orange and gray wings make them one of North America's most striking silk moths.
