Black Redstart Nestling
Phoenicurus ochruros (nestling)

A black redstart nestling is partly feathered and still confined to the nest, usually in sheltered urban masonry, cliffs, quarries, or farm buildings. It eats a steady supply of insects, spiders, and larvae delivered by both parents. It stretches, begs loudly, preens new feathers, and may crouch low when disturbed. A notable feature is its developing dark, speckled juvenile plumage, which helps it blend into the nest hollow.
