Eurasian Curlew Fledgling
Numenius arquata (fledgling)

A growing juvenile of wet meadows, bog edges, and coastal grazing marshes, beginning to use its wings for short flights while still building strength. It probes soft soil and mud for worms, larvae, and small invertebrates, gradually adopting the feeding style of adults. Its bill is shorter and less curved than an adult’s but already useful for probing. Flight practice and alert running make it more mobile than the chick, though it remains vulnerable to predators.
