Oriental Magpie Nestling
Pica serica (nestling)

The nestling stage remains in the nest but is stronger, partly feathered, and increasingly alert to movement around it. It is fed a varied diet of insects, small animals, fruit, seeds, and scavenged food brought by the adults. Nestlings stretch, jostle, preen growing feathers, and call loudly for meals while staying hidden above the ground. One notable fact is that young magpies develop the long tail shape early, even before they can use it well in flight.
