Grey-headed Woodpecker Nestling
Picus canus (nestling)

The nestling stage remains inside the excavated cavity, now growing pin feathers and beginning to look more birdlike. It calls loudly for food and practices wing movements in the cramped hollow. Its diet is still supplied by adults and is rich in ants and insect larvae. The enclosed nest hole protects it from weather, but its noise can attract predators.
