Grey-headed Woodpecker Fledgling
Picus canus (fledgling)

A fledgling grey-headed woodpecker has left the nest and makes short, uneven flights between trunks, branches, and nearby cover. It still depends partly on adults while learning to cling vertically and probe bark or ground litter for ants. Its plumage is duller and more juvenile than the adult's, helping it blend into wooded edges. This stage is mobile but inexperienced, often practicing flight and landing skills.
