Black Vulture Fledgling
Coragyps atratus (fledgling)

A black vulture fledgling has left the nest but still practices short flights, awkward landings, and careful hopping around roosts and feeding areas. It continues to receive food from adults while learning to locate carrion and avoid stronger competitors. Its dark juvenile plumage resembles the adult’s, though its flight control is less confident. Defensive regurgitation remains an important trick when a predator gets too close.
