Common Green Lacewing Larva

Chrysoperla carnea (larva)

Common Green Lacewing Larva

This active larval stage lives on leaves, stems, and crop plants where aphids and other soft-bodied insects gather. It is a fierce little predator, using sickle-shaped jaws to seize prey and suck out body fluids. Some larvae carry bits of debris or prey remains on their backs, helping them blend into the plant surface. Its appetite for aphids makes it an important natural pest-control insect.
