Sacred Scarab Beetle Larva
Scarabaeus sacer (larva)

A pale, C-shaped grub that develops inside a dung brood ball buried in sandy soil or pasture ground. It feeds on stored dung prepared by the adult, remaining hidden underground through its early life. Its soft body is vulnerable in the open, so it relies on concealment and curling tightly when disturbed. A notable feature is that its entire larval food supply is sealed with it before hatching.
