German Wasp
Vespula germanica

German wasps are social wasps found in gardens, woodland edges, farms, and towns, often nesting in soil cavities, wall spaces, or roof voids. Adults fly quickly between flowers, fallen fruit, carrion, and human food, while also hunting other insects to feed larvae in the nest. A single individual defends itself with a venomous sting and strong mandibles, and its bold yellow-and-black warning pattern signals danger to predators. This species is native to parts of Europe, North Africa, and temperate Asia, but has become a major invasive wasp in several regions worldwide.
