Codling Moth
Cydia pomonella

A small gray-brown moth found in orchards, gardens, and woodland edges where host fruit trees grow. Adults are mostly active around dusk and night, resting by day with mottled wings that blend against bark. They do not feed heavily as adults; their main role is mating and laying eggs on leaves or developing fruit. A notable coppery patch near the wing tips helps distinguish this otherwise camouflaged moth.
