Codling Moth Pupa
Cydia pomonella (pupa)

The codling moth pupa develops inside a tough silken cocoon in sheltered bark crevices, under loose bark, in leaf litter, or occasionally in storage areas. It remains still while its caterpillar body is transformed into the adult moth. This stage does not feed, relying on energy stored during larval feeding inside fruit. Its cocoon can help it survive winter, allowing adults to emerge when conditions become suitable.
