Agrotis ipsilon (larva)
A soil-dwelling cutworm caterpillar found in fields, gardens, grasslands, and disturbed ground. It feeds mostly at night on grasses and young crop plants, often hiding under soil or leaf litter by day. When disturbed, it curls tightly or wriggles away into cover. Its notable habit is cutting tender seedlings near the soil line, which gives cutworms their common name.
