Rock Dove
Columba livia

The adult rock dove lives on sea cliffs, rocky outcrops, farms, towns, and cities, where buildings often substitute for natural cliff faces. It feeds mainly on seeds and grains, but urban birds also take fruit pieces and human food scraps. Adults fly strongly, walk while bobbing the head, and use pecks, wing slaps, chest bumps, and display struts during disputes. One notable fact is that rock doves have exceptional homing ability and were domesticated into the carrier and racing pigeons used by people for centuries.
