Dyeing Poison Frog Tadpole
Dendrobates tinctorius (tadpole)

This aquatic stage lives in tiny pools held by bromeliads, tree holes, or leaf litter in humid rainforest. It wriggles among submerged debris and feeds on algae, detritus, small invertebrates, and sometimes other tadpoles. Its small body is built for swimming rather than hopping, and it depends on clean, still water until metamorphosis. A notable trait of poison frog tadpoles is that a parent may transport them to separate pools, reducing competition and cannibalism.
