Arapaima Fingerling
Arapaima gigas (fingerling)

Arapaima fingerlings patrol sluggish rivers, oxbow lakes, and seasonally flooded forest in the Amazon Basin. Their diet broadens to include insects, crustaceans, and small fish. They surface to breathe air, an adaptation that helps them survive in warm waters with little dissolved oxygen.
