Mandarinfish
Synchiropus splendidus

Adult mandarinfish inhabit calm coral reefs and lagoons, often sheltering among branching corals during the day. They hunt tiny crustaceans and worms by hovering and pecking along the bottom. Their vivid blue-and-orange pattern is paired with a foul, toxic skin mucus that discourages many predators.
