Red-bellied Pacu
Piaractus brachypomus

Adults inhabit major South American river systems and seasonally flooded forests, often following high water into fruit-rich feeding areas. They are omnivores that consume large amounts of fallen fruit, seeds, leaves, and occasional invertebrates. By passing and dispersing seeds through flooded forests, they play an important role in riverine ecosystems.
