Anna's Hummingbird
Calypte anna

Adult Anna's Hummingbirds live along western North America's gardens, chaparral, parks, open woods, and coastal scrub, and many remain year-round where flowers or feeders are available. They feed on nectar for energy and take small insects and spiders for protein, often catching prey in quick aerial sallies. Adults are highly territorial around feeding areas, using chases, chirps, and steep display dives. The male's iridescent rose-pink crown and throat can flash brilliantly when the angle of light is right.
