Angelfish
Pterophyllum scalare
Adult freshwater angelfish live in quiet, vegetation-rich rivers, backwaters, and flooded forests of the Amazon basin. They hunt insect larvae, small crustaceans, and other small prey while also taking some plant material. The extremely flattened body lets an adult turn and slip through narrow stands of aquatic vegetation.
