Fallow Deer
Dama dama

Adult fallow deer live in broadleaf woodland, mixed forest, pasture, and old parkland, feeding mainly on grasses, leaves, shoots, bark, nuts, and fallen fruit. They are social grazers and browsers, but an individual can defend itself with sharp hooves and, in males, powerful antlers. During the autumn rut, bucks display, groan, scrape the ground, and clash antlers to compete for mates. The species is notable for its highly variable coat colors, including spotted, menil, dark, and nearly white forms.
