Isabella Tiger Moth Pupa
Pyrrharctia isabella (pupa)

This pupa develops in a thin, loosely woven cocoon among leaf litter, soil debris, or sheltered vegetation in fields, gardens, and other open habitats. It remains still and does not feed, relying entirely on energy stored during its caterpillar stage. Inside the cocoon, its larval tissues are reorganized into the winged adult moth; the pupal stage generally lasts a few weeks under suitable warm conditions.
