Ball Python Hatchling
Python regius (hatchling)

Ball python hatchlings emerge in the grasslands, savannas, and open forests of West and Central Africa, seeking cover in small burrows, termite mounds, and dense vegetation. They are chiefly nocturnal ambush hunters, taking suitably small rodents and other tiny vertebrates. Even at this stage, a hatchling may coil tightly into a protective ball when alarmed, shielding its head at the center.
