Double-crested Cormorant
Nannopterum auritum

Double-crested Cormorants inhabit freshwater and coastal waters across much of North America, nesting in colonies near productive fishing grounds. They dive from the surface and propel themselves underwater with powerful webbed feet to catch fish, amphibians, and crustaceans. Unlike many waterbirds, their feathers absorb water readily, so adults commonly perch with wings spread to dry after a hunt.
