Magnificent Sea Anemone
Radianthus magnifica

The magnificent sea anemone lives attached to hard reef surfaces in clear, warm Indo-Pacific waters with steady water movement. Its long tentacles capture zooplankton, small fish, and other drifting prey using dense batteries of stinging cells. It also gains nutrients from symbiotic algae living in its tissues and may host clownfish among its tentacles. Despite its flowerlike appearance, it is an animal whose body can contract rapidly into a compact defensive shape.
